OnlyReelFans is a podcast series that acts as a movie club, and much more. At the start of the pandemic, Karen Twins Productions founders, Dillon Antonius Bentlage and Brian Reilly, formed a monthly movie club where they’d pick a theme (genre, actor, director, etc.) and take the month to watch a set of movies that fell under the theme. Once the month ended, they would do a call to discuss what they watched. After a couple of months of doing this, they decided to turn the movie club into a podcast. Now, everyone can tune in to listen to Dillon, Brian, and special guests virtually gather to do a fun, semi-deep dive into the films they watch each month.
Ep. 40: Play It By Ear (Season 2 Finale)
Season 2 of OnlyReelFans come to a close the best way we know how: by talking about our own project! Simon Kienitz Kincade and Emily Ann Zisko join us to talk about our new series, "Play It By Ear," which is now available on Karen Twins Productions' YouTube channel.
Also, this is sadly our last episode for the foreseeable future. We have a lot of big and exciting projects lined up for next year, so we need to take a break from the podcast. We appreciate all of you for tuning in and listening to us talk about movies!
Ep. 39: 80s Fantasy Movies
We take a deep dive into some beloved children's fantasy films from the 80s, including Labyrinth, The NeverEnding Story, Legend, Return to Oz, and The Dark Crystal.
Ep. 38: Fresh Meat
Round 2 of talking about our favorite British sitcoms. This time, we talk about the 2011 show, "Fresh Meat." Believe it or not, this was created by Jesse Armstrong, the creator of "Succession."
Ep. 37: The Didgeridouche (with Simon Kienitz Kincade)
Reminiscing on Karen Twins Productions' debut short film, "The Didgeridouche." We're joined by the star and Co-Creator, the one and only Simon Kienitz Kincade. This short film was created by Dillon and Simon while they were studying abroad in Australia and was the catalyst behind our creative partnership with Simon. This is truly a hilarious and special short film. You can watch it on our YouTube channel. Maybe we'll make a sequel one day...
Ep. 36: The Inbetweeners
"The Inbetweeners" is one of our favorite sitcoms of all time. It's the perfect blend of raunchy & cringy humor mixed with some relatable moments. It's main message: don't bring a briefcase to school.
Ep. 35: Samen.PL (Edmund Piunow Interview)
Dillon and special guest host, Dominika Zawada, interview Edmund Piunow, who is the Cinematographer and Co-Producer of the hit Polish/Dutch web series, Samen.PL. Samen.PL is a a satirical series focusing on cultural differences between Poland, Dutch, and other nations. Dominika stars in this series as Jadzia.
Ep. 34: Outcast
A movie starring Hayden Christensen and Nicolas Cage as two Scottish Crusaders who escort a deceased Chinese emperor’s children to safety…yeah you can already tell this film sucks.
Ep. 33: Life As a House
Our review of “Life As a House,” the 2001 drama film starring the one and only Hayden Christensen. Easily one of his best roles. Playing a moody, druggy teenager who doesn’t like to obey his elders…why does that sound so familiar?
Ep. 32: Play Me (Caleb Phillips Interview)
We spoke with 2019 SXSW winner, Caleb Phillips, about his follow-up short film, "Play Me." This edge-of-your-seat thriller is about one woman’s amnesia and whether or not she can trust herself and those around her. "Play Me" is scheduled to release in early 2023.
Ep. 31: Cici's Sonata (Brandon T. Bailey Interview)
We spoke with filmmaker Brandon T. Bailey about his exciting new short film, "Cici's Sonata." The film is about a young woman who actively experiences psychosis while performing a piano recital. Produced by Karen Twins Productions, "Cici's Sonata" is expected to release early 2023.
Ep. 30: Soft Girls and Boys Club Interview
We reunited with our favorite rockers from across the pond, Tom Richards and Ben Webster of the UK rock band Soft Girls and Boys Club, to talk about their debut album Jeefy Hymns, new music, influences, and much more. Stream Jeefy Hymns on all music streaming platforms!
Ep. 29: Wings of Desire, Part 2 (featuring Paris, Texas!)
We continue our discussion on "Wings of Desire" and review another Wim Wenders gem, "Paris, Texas." Safe to say we are officially fans of Wim.
Ep. 28: Wings of Desire, Part 1
Our wings had the desire to watch the 1987 Wim Wenders classic, "Wings of Desire." We had so much to say about this film and Wim that we had to split it up into 2 parts!
Ep. 27: Stuck In Development (Jason Lange Interview)
Brian interviews Jason Lange, the creator of the new web series "Stuck In Development." "Stuck In Development" is a comedy about a guy who moves to Los Angeles to pursue his dreams of being a writer/director, but instead spends all of his time on personal growth and development. You can stream it on iTunes, Google Play, and Prime Video.
Ep. 26: Diner
We review Barry Levinson’s debut film from 1982, "Diner," while having lunch at a diner! Sorry in advance if you hear us eating.
Ep. 25: Rob-B-Hood (DVD Commentary)
We're back with another edition of DVD Commentary. For this season, we'll be watching and commenting on the 2006 Benny Chan and Jackie Chan film, "Rob-B-Hood," also known as "Robin-B-Hood" and "Baby Project". Let's see if this is an underrated gem of the martial art icon.
Ep. 22: Raging Fire
What do you get when you combine Donnie Yen, Nicholas Tse, explosions, and knife fights together? One badass cop flick.
Ep. 21: Once Upon a Time in America (Season 2 Premiere)
SEASON 2 PREMIERE! Dillon and Brian are back and better than ever. To kick off the new season, they break down one of the greatest (and longest) films ever made: Sergio Leone’s “Once Upon a Time in America”.
